ABOUT THE GAME

Hosting Dead Matter — what you need to know.

According to the current status, Dead Matter, which was financed through crowdfunding, will finally be released on the PC in March 2020. The rogue-lite from Canada is supposed to offer a whole new gaming experience for everyone who wants to fight for their lives surrounded by zombies in the tundra and snowy landscape of Canada. Those who are interested are definitely recommended to quickly join the Indiegogo campaign and catch extra backer goodies.

Zombie apocalypse in Canada.

The open sandbox map is located in a fictional city (plus surroundings) called Alberta. Here you'll find everything you'd imagine from a Canadian city: rather less generously distributed houses and factories, lots of forest but also open fields, lots of natural resources but also abandoned vehicles. The developers put great emphasis on making the 20 square kilometer map as immersive as possible. For example, they developed an inventory where you have to pay attention to space, temperature and other factors, and lighting conditions that make moving around in the dark an absolute thrill - especially the forests are pitch black!

Art style and customization options

The graphic style is very authentic and atmospheric. In addition, the graphics quality is really impressive. Especially the lighting and physics engines complement the realistic world to a great and believable extent. The developers' goal of offering an individual experience for every player is reflected in the high rate of customization options. Already at the character creation stage, many design options become visible, which only continue within the world. Thus, all buildings and weapons can be completely re-equipped and upgraded, so that every weapon and base can be credibly improved and upgraded. Thus, one is not dependent on the classic search for better areas or equipment. A defensive play style is just as effective, as long as you constantly supply your desired home with new resources, of which there are many in this world.

The Balance of Singleplayer, Multiplayer

It's not just in gameplay that the three full-time developers are paying attention to the many different ways to face the challenges of the world. In terms of world population and single-player and multiplayer modes, too, they want to make it possible for every player to live out his or her potential in the way he or she likes, so that both modes are equally balanced and fun. Especially in single player, certain AI factions take on the role of extra antagonists alongside the zombies. But these should not stand in the world like a soaked poodle on the street. They will be equipped with credible bases, weapons and hierarchies. Due to the great support of the crowdfunding campaigns now some additional features are confirmed. For example, there is full modding support for the players, which lets hope for undreamt-of possibilities for the community on the basis of a so far really beautifully elaborated world. Likewise,an expansion of the map is planned, which supplements it with bunkers and underground buildings, airplanes and trains have been implemented into the world, as well as radio stations. The developers seem to be releasing a very community-centric game here, which - as it looks - can really be seen.
