Weapon types

The game offers a variety of weapon types - with a focus on realistic combat behavior based on the Dune universe.

Example weapon types:

  • Melee weapons: Knives (e.g. Crysknives), swords - effective against shield bearers in slow attacks
  • Ranged weapons: Projectile weapons, laser weapons (rare & dangerous due to chain reactions with shields)
  • Explosives: Mines, grenades, explosive charges - ideal for sabotage and base attacks
  • Special equipment: Stun weapons, wormlock devices, tactical tools

Note: Weapons can be adapted to the target behavior - e.g. PvE (against creatures) or PvP (against players).

Armor

Armor not only protects against physical attacks, but also against heat, sandstorms and spice effects.

Typical types of armor:

  • Light armor: Provide mobility, lesser protection
  • Medium armor: Balance between movement and defense
  • Heavy armor: Highest protection, but with disadvantages in stamina & speed
  • Special clothing: E.g. stillsuits for water extraction and survival in the desert

Armor can be upgraded with modules and materials (e.g. with heat protection or sound absorption).

Upgrades & Crafting

Players can improve their equipment via a deep crafting system:

  • Weapon Upgrades: Improved grips, ammo types, aiming systems
  • Armor Modifications: Thermal insulation, shield boosters, lighter alloys
  • Rare resources: Spice components, worm skin, alien metals

Upgrades require rare resources that can be collected through exploration, trade or PvP actions.

Shields

Shields are a key element in combat - they block fast attacks but are vulnerable to slow melee hits.

Special features:

  • Personal Shields: Portable units, limited energy
  • Base Shields: Large stationary systems for buildings or vehicles
  • Interactions: Contact with lasers can lead to dangerous explosions (true to Lore)

Tactical note: In close combat, slow, precise attacks are more effective against shield bearers.
